you enabled your servant Benedict
to establish wise rules for community life
and to lead by his example of obedience and humility;
help us by your Spirit
to walk with willing hearts
in the discipline of the Lord’s service;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Amen.
Prayer
Our Father,
save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
Almighty God,
you see that we have no power of ourselves
to help ourselves;
keep us both outwardly in our bodies
and inwardly in our souls,
that we may be defended from all adversities
which may happen to the body,
and from all evil thoughts
which may assault and hurt the soul.
Amen.
