Gospel Reflection

We must be on our guard.
We could be taken to court;
we could be summoned to appear
before the authorities, to testify for Jesus.
The gospel must be proclaimed to everyone.

Jesus asked in the garden that the cup might pass from him;
Jesus drank the cup and walked the way of the cross.

Gospel Reading - Jesus on the last day of Sukkot

37On the last day, the climax of the holidays, Jesus shouted to the crowds, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me.” 39(He was speaking of the Holy Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him; but the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet returned to his glory in heaven.)

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
     hallowed be your name,
     your kingdom come,
     your will be done,
          on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
     as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
     and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
     now and for ever.
Amen.
