Morning Prayer
I give thanks unto You, Adonai,
that, in mercy,
You have restored my soul within me.
Endless is Your compassion;
great is Your faithfulness.
I thank You, Adonai,
for the rest You have given me through the night
and for the breath that renews my body and spirit.
Amen.
Opening Sentance
Psalm 31
- In you Lord I have taken refuge:
let me never be put to shame, - deliver me in your righteousness:
incline your ear to me
come quickly to my rescue. - Be to me a rock of refuge:
a stronghold to keep me safe. - You are to me a rock and a fortress:
for your name's sake lead me and guide me. - Release me from the net they have secretly laid for me:
for you O Lord are my strength. - Into your hands I commend my spirit:
for you have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. - You hate those who pay regard to worthless idols:
but I put my trust in the Lord. - I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy:
for you have seen my affliction,
and taken heed of my soul's distress. - You have not given me up to the power of the enemy:
you have set my feet where I may walk at liberty.
Prayer
The night has passed and the day lies open before us;
Gird us with your armour Lord
and the protection of your love,
over us and our loved ones:
(Silence may be kept)
As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,
so may the light of your presence, O God,
set our hearts on fire with love for you;
now and for ever.
Amen.
