Prayer

The night has passed and the day lies open before us;
let us pray with one heart and mind:
As we rejoice in the gift of this day,
so may the light of your presence, O God,
set our hearts on fire with love for you;
now and for ever.
Amen.

Old Testament Reading - Bread from Heaven

thumb

17So the people of Israel went out and gathered it — some getting more and some less before it melted on the ground, 18and there was just enough for everyone. Those who gathered more had nothing left over and those who gathered little had no lack! Each home had just enough.

19And Moses told them, “Don’t leave it overnight.”

20But of course some of them wouldn’t listen, and left it until morning; and when they looked, it was full of maggots and had a terrible odor; and Moses was very angry with them. 21So they gathered the food morning by morning, each home according to its need; and when the sun became hot upon the ground, the food melted and disappeared.

Please remember our Prayer Requests

One thing we ask of you, O Lord, one thing we seek:
that we may dwell in your house all the days of our life.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
Let your loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us,
as we have put our trust in you.
Christ, have mercy. E te Karaiti, kia aroha mai.
Rise up and help us, O God our Saviour,
and save us for the sake of your steadfast love.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
Ride on and conquer in the cause of truth,
and for the sake of justice.
Christ, have mercy. E te Karaiti, kia aroha mai.
Let the heavens declare the rightness of your cause,
and may your praises reach to the world’s end.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
Amen.
