Psalm 12
1 Help Lord, for there is not one godly person left: the faithful have vanished from among us. 2 They all speak falsely to their neighbours: they flatter with their lips, but dissemble in their double heart. 3 O that the Lord would cut off all flattering lips: and the tongue that speaks so boastfully. 4 They have said, ‘With our tongue we will prevail: our lips are our own, who is Lord over us?’ 5 ‘Because the poor are oppressed: and because of the groans of the needy, 6 ‘I will arise,’ says the Lord: ‘and give them the place of safety they long for.’ 7 The words of the Lord are pure as silver refined in a furnace: as gold that is purified seven times in the fire. 8 Protect us O Lord: and guard us from this generation for ever, 9 for the wicked flaunt themselves on every side: and the worthless are exalted among the people.
Old Testament Reading - All the Nations will celebrate Sukkot
9And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Lord — his name alone will be worshiped. 10All the land from Geba (the northern border of Judah) to Rimmon (the southern border) will become one vast plain, but Jerusalem will be on an elevated site, covering the area all the way from the Gate of Benjamin over to the site of the old gate, then to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. 11And Jerusalem shall be inhabited, safe at last, never again to be cursed and destroyed.
16In the end, those who survive the plague will go up to Jerusalem each year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, to celebrate a time of thanksgiving.a 17And any nation anywhere in all the world that refuses to come to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, will have no rain.
. . . . . Zechariah 14:9-11;16-17- Literally, “to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles,” or “Booths.”
Intercession
Pray for 5 people on your heart ending with the prayer below.
Heavenly Father
We pray for… those in need:
those who suffer;
the sick;
the poor;
the distressed;
the lonely; the unloved;
the persecuted;
the unemployed;
those who grieve; and those who care for them…
Comfort and heal, merciful Lord,
all who are in sorrow, need, sickness, or any other trouble.
Give them a firm trust in your goodness;
help those who minister to them;
and bring us all into the joy of your salvation.
Father, hear our prayer,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
