Sabbath Prayer

Prayed by the oldest woman in the house.
The woman lights the Sabbath candles
waving her hands three times around them,
and then prays silently.
Pray for the desires of your heart for your children
Pray for others present or family who need Blessings and good health.
and pray Jesus will return soon.

Blessed are You O Lord, our God,
King of the Universe,
Who has sanctified us in Your Word,
and given us Jesus our Saviour
and commanded us to be light to the world.
Amen.

Shabbat Shalom (A Peaceful loving and Holy Sabbath Rest)

Head of Household's Prayer

Blessing for Family:

May Adonai bless you and keep you;
May Adonai make his face to shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
May Adonai favor you and give you peace.

Placing your hands on your children's heads, hug and whisper something that you love about them, or that you are pleased with them about this week.

The head of the household takes a glass of wine and recites:-

And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. The heavens and the earth were finished, the whole host of them. And on the seventh day, God completed the work which God had done, and rested on the seventh day from all the work that was done. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it God rested from all the work that God had created to do. - Genesis 2:1-3

Blessing for the Bread

Pick up the bread

All glory and thanksgiving to you, holy Father;
on the night before he died
your Son, Jesus Christ, took bread;
and prayed:
Blessed are You, Lord Our God,
Ruler of the universe,
Who brings forth bread from the earth.
He broke it.

Break the bread

He gave it to his disciples, and said:
Take, eat, this is my body
which is given for you;
do this to remember me.

Pass round the bread for everyone to take a piece.

Blessing for the Wine

Pick up a glass of wine/grapejuice and pray.

After supper he took the cup and gave thanks:
Blessed are You, Lord our God,
Ruler of the universe,
Who creates the fruit of the vine.
He gave it to the disciples, and said:
Drink this, all of you,
for this is my blood of the new covenant
which is shed for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins;
do this as often as you drink it,
to remember me.
Glory to you , Lord Christ;
your death we show forth;
your resurrection we proclaim;
your coming we await;
I walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
I will lift up the cup of Salvation and call on the name of the Lord.

Amen! Come Lord Jesus!

Pass round the glass of wine for everyone to have a sip.

Psalm 65

Grace

Grace is usually said AFTER the meal.

Let us say grace.
Blessed are you LORD our God, master of the Universe
Who nourishes the whole world in goodness, with grace kindness and compassion.
He gives bread to all flesh, for his mercy endures forever.
And through his great goodness we have never lacked,
nor will we lack food for ever, for the sake of his great Name.
For he is God who nourishes and sustains all, and does good to all,
and prepares food for all his creatures, which he created.
Blessed are you Lord who nourishes all.
Amen.
