L’CHA HASHEM

For Yours, Adonai, is righteousness,
and ours is nothing but shame.
How can we complain, what can we say,
what can we declare, and how can we be justified?
Let us search our ways and probe them,
and return to You,
for Your right hand is outstretched to accept those who return.
Through Your mercy, and the sacrifice of your son,
we have come before You,
like the poor and destitute we knock on Your door.
At Your door do we knock merciful and gracious One
do not turn us away empty handed from before You
From before You, our Sovereign, empty handed do not
turn us away, for You
the One Who hears prayer.
Forgive us our Father,
for in the abundance of our folly we have erred,
pardon us, our Sovereign,
for our iniquities are many.

Amen.

Old Testament Reading - The Feast of Trumpets

23Again Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 24“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a arest, a memorial by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall bring an offering by fire near to Yahweh.’”

S’LICHOT (adapted for Gentile Christians)

Through the following verses, which include the Thirteen Attributes of God.

Our Elohim and Elohim of our ancestors,
how can we open our mouths' before You,
Who dwells in the outstretched universe,
in what manner may we pour out our supplications,
we despised Your paths
which are honest and straightforward,
we adhered to abominations
and despicable deeds.
We went after visions of uselessness and deception,
we obstinately made our necks stiff and our faces brazen,
You raged on our account
and destroyed nearly all you had created,
how You have chastised us at the hands of our enemies
we were not attentive to listen to those who rebuked us.
We have lived in the darkness,
while our eyes yearned for You without finding relief.
Then you sent us the Revelation,
your light shone in Galilee and has not been put out.
O You Who dwells forever and Who is holy,
behold the shame of those who sigh,
who are rightous only through your son,
who depend on You and who to You are stitched together,
by the awesome deeds of Your right hand
may we be redeemed forever,
for upon Your abundant mercy do we put our trust.
for upon Your abundant mercy do we put our trust.
and upon Your righteousness do we rely
for through Christ we have forgiveness of sins
and salvation from death.
You are the Sovereign,
Who loves righteousness since the beginning of time,
Who overlooks the iniquities of Your people,
and removes the misdeeds of those Who revere You
Who descended in the cloud of Your glory upon Mount Sinai,
and You showed the ways of Your goodness to Moses Your servant.
The paths of Your kindness You revealed to him,
and You let him know that You are the Almighty One Who is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abundant in kindness
Who is abundantly beneficent,
and Who guides all the world in its entirety with the Attribute of Mercy
And so it is written,
And He said, I shall cause to pass all My goodness before your face,
and I shall call out with the Name of Adonai before you,
I shall show favor to whomever I choose to show favor,
and I shall show mercy to whomever I choose to show mercy.
You establish a new covenant with us,
writing your law on our hearts,
and You are faithful to keep your promises.
Amen.
