DINNER (Vespers)

Dear God,
thank you for all that is good,
for our creation and for our humanity,
for the gifts of life and of one another,
for your love which is unbounded and eternal.
for the food before us,
the family and friends beside us
and the love between us.

Psalm 107:33-43

  1. He turns rivers into a desert,
    springs of water into thirsty ground,
  2. a fruitful land into a salty waste,
    because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.
  3. He turns a desert into pools of water,
    a parched land into springs of water.
  4. And there he lets the hungry live,
    and they establish a town to live in;
  5. they sow fields, and plant vineyards,
    and get a fruitful yield.
  6. By his blessing they multiply greatly,
    and he does not let their cattle decrease.
  7. When they are diminished and brought low
    through oppression, trouble, and sorrow,
  8. he pours contempt on princes
    and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
  9. but he raises up the needy out of distress,
    and makes their families like flocks.
  10. The upright see it and are glad;
    and all wickedness stops its mouth.
  11. Let those who are wise give heed to these things,
    and consider the steadfast love of the Lord.

God of our beautiful country,
give us care and skill
in cultivating and managing
what you have given us,
and we shall make it truly
your own land.
