Almighty God,
you called George Augustus Selwyn
to be bishop of the church in New Zealand
and to lay a firm foundation for its life;
grant that, building on his labours
and encouraged by his gifts of heart, hand and mind,
we too may extend your kingdom,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Prayer

Our Father,
forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Jesus, you knew rejection and disappointment;
help us if our work seems distasteful;
help us to decide what best to do,
what next to do,
or what to do at all.
Give us courage and cheerfulness to go the second mile,
and all the miles ahead.
