Prayer
Blessèd are you, Sovereign God, ruler of the nations,
to you be glory and praise for ever!
From the rising of the sun to its setting
your name is proclaimed in all the world.
As the Sun of Righteousness dawns in our hearts,
anoint our lips with the seal of your Spirit
that we may witness to your gospel
and sing your praise in all the world,
Creator, Redeemer, and Giver of Life:
Blessèd be God for ever!
Amen.
Old Testament Reading - Taught by God
23-24 Listen to me, listen as I plead: Does a farmer always plow and never sow? Is he forever harrowing the soil and never planting it? 25Does he not finally plant his many kinds of grain, each in its own section of his land? 26He knows just what to do, for God has made him see and understand. 27He doesn’t thresh all grains the same. A sledge is never used on dill, but it is beaten with a stick. A threshing wheel is never rolled on cummin, but it is beaten softly with a flail. 28Bread grain is easily crushed, so he doesn’t keep on pounding it. 29The Lord Almighty is a wonderful teacher and gives the farmer wisdom.
. . . . .Isaiah 28:23-29O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,
Let the whole earth stand in awe of God.
