The Exalted One
Christ Jesus was in the form of God:
yet he did not think to grasp at equality with God,
but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant:
and was born in our human likeness.
Amen.
Gospel Reading - Ask and you shall receive
7“Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. 8For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. If only you will knock, the door will open. 9If a child asks his father for a loaf of bread, will he be given a stone instead? 10If he asks for fish, will he be given a poisonous snake? Of course not! 11And if you hard-hearted, sinful men know how to give good gifts to your children, won’t your Father in heaven even more certainly give good gifts to those who ask him for them?
12“Do for others what you want them to do for you. This is the teaching of the laws of Moses in a nutshell.
. . . . .Matthew 7:7–12- Literally, “This is the law and the prophets.”
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
