Prayer

God our Father,
We remember,
we your people solemnly remember
the wars we have endured;
the killing, the grief, and the courage.
For the evil that was done
we ask your pardon;
for what was great and honourable
we give you the glory.

we give you thanks for those
who laid down their lives in war;
we pray for courage and self-sacrifice like theirs,
so that evil may always be resisted and peace maintained;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Amen.
