MATINS - Midnight Prayer

Psalm 110

  1. The Lord said to my lord:'Sit at my right hand,
    until I make your enemies your footstool.'
  2. From the holy mountain the Lord hand you the sceptre of power:
    saying, 'Rule in the midst of your enemies.'
  3. On the day of your power your people shall willingly offer themselves:
    in holy array they will come to you like dew at the birth of the morning.
  4. The Lord has sworn an oath that will never be retracted:
    'You are a priest for ever in the line of Melchizedek.'
  5. The Lord is at your right hand;
    he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
  6. He will execute judgment among the nations,
    filling them with corpses;
    he will shatter heads over the wide earth.
  7. He will drink from the stream by the path;
    therefore will he lift up his head.

O God, who in the work of creation
commanded the light to shine out of darkness:
we pray that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ
may shine into the hearts of all your people,
dispelling the darkness of ignorance and unbelief
and revealing to them the knowledge of your glory
in the face of Jesus Christ our Lord . . .

Thank Him for 3 things that happened today (Good or Not!)

Our Father,
your will be done
on earth as in heaven.

God of peace,
be with us through this night which waits for us;
bless us if it brings us sleep;
support us if it brings us pain or anxiety,
till we come once more to the morning light of another day.

The Blessing

May Christ the King give us his blessing of peace.
